Lower Key Stage 2 Teaching Assistant – Hackney – Immediate Start
A welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school in Hackney is seeking a dedicated Lower Key Stage 2 Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact on the learning and development of children in Years 3 and 4.

The school is committed to providing an engaging and nurturing learning environment for all pupils. They are looking for a calm, proactive, and enthusiastic individual who can offer both academic and behavioural support to children, including those with challenging behaviours and Special Educational Needs (SEN).

Role Details:
  • Position: Lower Key Stage 2 Teaching Assistant
  • Location: Hackney
  • Start Date: Immediate
  • Contract Type: Full-time, Long-Term
  • Salary: £105 - £115 per day (dependent on experience)
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide tailored academic support to individuals and small groups in Years 3 and 4.
  • Support pupils with challenging behaviours using positive behaviour strategies and clear boundaries.
  • Assist in delivering engaging literacy, numeracy, and topic-based lessons.
  • Help prepare resources and set up classroom activities under the direction of the class teacher.
  • Encourage positive peer interactions and emotional development.
  • Monitor and record pupil progress and contribute to planning meetings.
  • Support children with transitions throughout the day, ensuring consistency and structure.
  • Contribute to creating a calm, structured, and stimulating classroom environment.
What We Are Looking For:
  • Experience working in a primary school setting, preferably Key Stage 2.
  • Understanding of and experience supporting children with SEN and challenging behaviours.
  • A calm, patient, and consistent approach to behaviour management.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Enthusiasm for supporting young learners and promoting their wellbeing.
  • Flexibility and initiative in adapting to the individual needs of pupils.
