Head of Ops Data, Capacity & Insights

We are seeking a strategic and results-focused Head of Operations Data, Capacity & Insights to lead a crucial department within the Operations Service & Control Centre division. This key role will drive operational efficiency, support strategic planning, and deliver data-driven insights across multiple operational functions at Thames Water.

What you’ll be doing as Head of Ops Data, Capacity & Insights

In this role, you’ll ensure the delivery of high-quality data, performance reporting and optimised capacity planning. By collaborating with a wide range of internal stakeholders, you’ll drive business transformation through data, forecasting and system improvements. Additionally, the role involves being a key contributor to the monthly, quarterly and annual budget cycles.

• Lead data acquisition activities, collaborating with the digital team to provide business-ready data.
• Ensure the delivery of business, customer and regulatory performance reporting to guide decision-making across the business.
• Develop and optimise workload demand and capacity plans for both short- and long-term goals.
• Lead the Product Owners to drive technological solutions that improve operational efficiency and customer service.
• Oversee the Process & Systems Excellence team to optimise technology platforms used across Operations.

This is a full-time hybrid role based in Reading (RG2 6AD). A driving license is essential as regular site visits will be required.

What you should bring to the role

To succeed in this role, you will need proven leadership experience, a strong history in data and performance management, and the ability to drive strategic initiatives within an operational environment.

• A degree qualified in a STEM subject is desirable.
• Experience leading functions that provide data services, particularly in performance reporting, forecasting, and capacity planning.
• Strong leadership skills within an operational environment and the ability to influence senior leaders.
• Demonstrable expertise in implementing and improving forecasting, scheduling, and planning processes.
• Proven ability to lead technology projects and drive business outcomes through strategic planning and process optimisation.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build relationships and effectively communicate key messages.

• Competitive salary from up to £85,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience.
• 26 days holiday per year increasing to 30 with the length of service. (plus bank holidays)
