We’re hiring a Fire Safety Surveyor with strong local authority experience to help ensure the safety of our communities in South East London.
The Role: As a Fire Safety Surveyor, you’ll play a vital role in delivering fire risk assessments, inspections, and compliance strategies across a range of residential and commercial properties managed by the local authority. You’ll work closely with housing, compliance, and asset teams to uphold the highest standards of fire safety.
Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct Fire Risk Assessments (Type 1–4) across the local authority’s housing stock.
• Ensure full compliance with current fire safety legislation and best practice (e.g. Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, Building Safety Act 2022).
• Provide technical advice and reports to internal stakeholders on fire safety issues.
• Liaise with contractors and oversee remedial works where fire risks are identified.
• Maintain accurate records, reports, and evidence of inspections.
• Support in developing fire safety policies and training programmes.

Requirements:

• Proven experience working as a Fire Safety Surveyor within a Local Authority or Housing Association.
• In-depth knowledge of fire safety legislation and regulations.
• NEBOSH Fire Certificate, Fire Risk Assessor qualification (e.g. IFE, IFSM, FRACS, or similar) preferred.
• Strong communication and reporting skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Full UK Driving Licence
