🧭 About the Role
As Assistant Director – Digital, you will:

Lead the council’s digital transformation strategy, ensuring it aligns with broader organisational goals.
Oversee the development and implementation of cutting-edge IT solutions and digital services.
Advise and influence senior leaders and elected members on digital innovation.
Champion a user-focused, accessible digital experience through a revamped council website.
Foster a culture of creativity and continuous improvement, adopting agile and future-proof technologies.
Ensure robust frameworks like ITIL and TOGAF are embedded across services.

You will report to the Executive Director of Transformation and manage a portfolio that directly supports the borough’s transformation agenda.

✅ What We’re Looking For
You’re a strategic digital leader with a strong track record of delivering change in complex organisations. You combine big-picture thinking with the ability to execute bold ideas and deliver measurable results.
You bring:

Proven experience designing and delivering large-scale digital and IT transformation programmes.
Strong leadership across multi-disciplinary teams, with the ability to inspire, challenge, and deliver.
Excellent knowledge of public sector digital strategy, emerging technologies, and cloud-based solutions.
Ability to communicate complex digital strategies clearly to senior stakeholders and elected members.
A thorough understanding of Care Act, digital by default, ITIL, and agile project delivery.

Qualifications:

Degree or equivalent professional experience in a relevant field
Postgraduate or professional qualification preferred
ITIL certification (desirable)
