Position Details:

• Job Title: Children’s Social Worker 
• Location: Barry
• Employment Type: Temporary (12 weeks)
• Start Date: 21 July 2025
• Hours: 37 hours per week (Monday to Friday, office-based)
• Salary:
  • PAYE: £28.15 per hour
  • Umbrella: £36.16 per hour

Why This Role?
As a Children’s Social Worker, you’ll provide essential short-term support to the Family Support Teams, working with children on the Child Protection Register and those in pre- and care proceedings. This role focuses on duty cover, including visits, meetings, section 47 enquiries, and other tasks, without long-term case allocation. You’ll play a key role in delivering strength-based, compassionate support to children and families, aligning with the All Wales Pledge to ensure high-quality social care.

What You’ll Do:

• Provide duty cover for the Family Support Teams, including home visits, meetings, and section 47 enquiries.
• Support children and families on a short-term basis, ensuring their safety and wellbeing.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver strength-based interventions.
• Maintain accurate records and comply with safeguarding, confidentiality, and professional standards.
• Travel across the Vale of Glamorgan as needed to meet service demands.
• Contribute to a supportive team environment, hitting the ground running with your expertise.

What We’re Looking For:
We’re seeking dedicated and experienced social workers who are ready to make an immediate impact. You’ll need:

• Essential:
  • A recognised social work qualification and active registration with Social Care Wales.
  • Experience in children’s social care, particularly with child protection or care proceedings.
  • A valid driving licence and ability to travel across the Vale of Glamorgan.
  • A kind, strength-based approach to working with children and families.
  • Ability to work full-time in the Barry Docks office (this is not a hybrid role).
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Enhanced DBS certificate.
  • Five years of references/work history.
  • Commitment to signing a confidentiality agreement.
• Desirable:
  • Experience conducting section 47 enquiries or working in family support teams.
  • Strong organisational skills to manage a varied workload effectively.

• Proof of eligibility to work in the UK.
• Signed confidentiality agreement.
• Enhanced DBS certificate.
• Five years of references/work history.
• Social Care Wales registration.
