Hours: 37 hours per week
Salary:
  • PAYE: £12.85 per hour
  • Umbrella: £16.57 per hour

Are you reliable, practical, and enjoy working outdoors as part of a team? Network Recruitment Wales is seeking an HWRC Operative to support Building Services & Maintenance, Newport. This temporary 6-week role provides essential cover during annual leave and offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to high-quality environmental and grounds maintenance services.

What You’ll Do:
  • Carry out a wide range of practical horticultural and grounds maintenance duties to a high standard in line with service specifications.
  • Undertake grass cutting, strimming, hedge trimming, leaf and litter clearance.
  • Plant and maintain bedding plants, trees, shrubs, and shrub beds, including pruning and general upkeep.
  • Carry out general soft landscaping tasks such as cultivation, seeding, and shrub-bed renewal.
  • Operate and maintain vehicles, plant, and machinery safely and in compliance with Health & Safety and Road Traffic Regulations.
  • Report any defects, incidents, or accidents promptly to your line manager.
  • Work safely at all times, taking responsibility for your own safety and that of others.

What We’re Looking For:
  • NVQ Level 1 in Horticulture (or equivalent) or a minimum of two years’ proven practical experience in grounds maintenance.
  • A full, current UK driving licence.
  • Practical experience using mowing equipment and small plant machinery (e.g. pedestrian mowers, strimmers).
  • Knowledge of health & safety regulations and mechanical plant/equipment (or willingness to undertake training).
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and meet deadlines.
  • Good communication skills and a positive, flexible attitude.
  • Physical stamina and willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • A team-focused approach with a commitment to service improvement.
Desirable:
  • Spraying certificate
  • Knowledge of plant identification and plant disorders
  • Experience of soft landscaping work
