Hours: 37 hours per week (7:30am–3:30pm Mon-Thu, 7:30am–3:00pm Fri)

Rate: PAYE £12.85/hour | Umbrella £16.32/hour

About the Role
Network Recruitment Wales is recruiting three Street Cleansing Operatives on behalf of our client to provide sickness cover for a 12-week temporary role. Based in a Waste & Cleansing team within Environment and Sustainability, you will play a vital role in maintaining clean and safe public spaces across the city. Under the supervision of the Assistant Manager (Refuse & Cleansing) and Supervisors, you will carry out street cleansing and occasional refuse collection duties as per contract specifications and daily route schedules. This role requires working outdoors in all weather conditions, adhering to health and safety regulations, and delivering excellent customer service to the public.

Key Responsibilities
  • Complete daily street cleansing tasks according to contract specifications and route schedules.
  • Comply with health and safety regulations, including wearing council-issued uniforms and protective clothing.
  • Report incidents, accidents, or faults to supervisors.
  • Work collaboratively with the team and independently to meet targets and deadlines.
  • Engage with members of the public, demonstrating strong customer care skills.
  • Occasionally support refuse collection duties as directed.
Candidate Requirements
  • Essential: Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Essential: CV.
  • Essential: Criminal Convictions Declaration.
  • On Offer Acceptance: Confidentiality Agreement.
  • Knowledge of the Newport City area (essential).
  • Experience in refuse or cleansing services (desirable).
  • A current, full UK driving licence (desirable).
  • Ability to work a rostered shift pattern, including weekends, Bank Holidays, and extra-statutory days.
  • Stamina for considerable walking, bending, lifting, and carrying.
  • Strong team player with the ability to work independently, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines.
