Job Description

Science Academic Coach

Are you a science graduate looking to gain classroom experience while supporting students across biology, chemistry and physics?

*** Science Academic Coach
*** September 2025 to July 2026
*** £82–£100 per day
*** ‘Outstanding’ secondary school, Wolverhampton
*** Small group support across the science curriculum

As a Science Academic Coach, you'll work with students in KS3 and KS4, delivering targeted support in biology, chemistry, and physics. You’ll run small group sessions aimed at reinforcing key content, improving exam technique, and boosting confidence. You’ll work closely with subject teachers to identify pupils who need extra input and adapt materials to suit different learning styles. Your support will play a key role in preparing students for science GCSEs.

You’re a science graduate with strong subject knowledge and a clear interest in education. You might be thinking about teaching in the future and want real classroom experience to build your confidence and skills. You’ll need to be clear, approachable, and able to simplify complex ideas for a teenage audience. Any experience working with young people—mentoring, tutoring or classroom-based—is a strong advantage.

This ‘Outstanding’ secondary school in Wolverhampton has a strong academic focus and a track record of high GCSE results. Staff are well-supported and intervention work is highly valued. The science department is well-resourced, forward-thinking, and committed to helping every pupil reach their potential. It’s an ideal setting for a graduate keen to gain insight into teaching and contribute to student success.
