Job Description

SEN Graduate Teaching Assistant – Primary

Are you a psychology or education graduate hoping to gain hands-on experience supporting pupils with special educational needs?

*** SEN Graduate Teaching Assistant – Primary
*** September 2025 to July 2026
*** £80 - £100 per day
*** ‘Good’ primary school, Walsall
*** 1:1 and small group support for children with Autism and ADHD

The Role:
This is a full-time, term-time role supporting pupils with additional needs in a nurturing and inclusive primary school. The successful SEN Graduate Teaching Assistant will work closely with the school’s SENCo and classroom teachers to provide targeted support to children with Autism and ADHD. You’ll help pupils stay focused in lessons, break down tasks into manageable steps, and provide emotional and academic support. Much of your time will be spent working 1:1 or in small groups, helping pupils access the curriculum and manage their behaviour in line with their individual needs.

The Candidate:
This role would suit a recent graduate in psychology, education, or a related subject who has a genuine interest in working with children with additional needs. You must be patient, calm, and proactive, with excellent communication skills. Any prior experience working with children or young people – particularly in a SEN setting – would be highly desirable. A strong understanding of Autism and ADHD will be a significant advantage.

The School:
This Walsall primary school is rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted and is well-known for its inclusive ethos and supportive staff team. The school provides high-quality CPD and works in close partnership with families to ensure pupils with SEN thrive academically and emotionally. You’ll join a dedicated, experienced team and have the chance to make a real difference to the lives of children who need additional support to succeed.

Due to the number of applications, only successful applicants will be contacted.
