Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant

Are you a Psychology graduate looking to gain hands-on experience supporting children with Autism before pursuing a career in educational or clinical psychology?

*** Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant
*** September 2025 to July 2026
*** £80 - £100 per day
*** School location - Wolverhampton
*** 1:1 and small group support for pupils with Autism

The Role
This Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant role involves supporting pupils with Autism, either one-to-one or in small groups, helping them engage with their learning and manage the school environment. You’ll assist the class teacher, implement behaviour and communication strategies, and track pupil progress in line with individual learning plans. It’s a rewarding role ideal for someone looking to develop practical SEN experience ahead of further study or training.

The Candidate
The ideal candidate will be a Psychology graduate with a strong interest in special educational needs, particularly Autism. Patience, empathy and excellent communication skills are essential. Previous experience working with children in any capacity is beneficial, but not essential. What matters most is a proactive attitude and a willingness to learn and adapt in a busy school setting.

The School
Located in Wolverhampton, this welcoming primary school is known for its inclusive ethos and commitment to pupil wellbeing. The SEN team is experienced and collaborative, offering strong support to new starters. The school provides regular CPD opportunities and values staff who are passionate about making a difference to children’s lives.
