Job Description

Graduate Teaching Assistant

Are you a graduate looking to gain school-based experience before embarking on a teacher training programme in 2026?

*** Graduates Teaching Assistant
*** September 2025 to July 2025
*** £80 - £90 per day
*** ‘Outstanding’ Secondary School, Ward of Northfield
*** 1:1 and small group support with SEN children in maths and science

This Graduate Teaching Assistant role is a full-time position supporting pupils with special educational needs across the maths and science departments. You will work closely with teaching staff to deliver targeted academic interventions, both in and outside of the classroom. The role involves supporting students on a one-to-one basis, running small group sessions, and helping pupils to access the curriculum in a way that suits their learning needs.

You will be expected to build strong relationships with students, monitor progress, and adapt your approach to suit each individual. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience and develop essential skills in behaviour management, communication, and differentiation.

This role is ideal for a graduate with a strong academic background in maths or science, and a genuine interest in working with young people with SEN. Experience supporting young people in any capacity is desirable but not essential. Patience, empathy, and a proactive attitude are key. Candidates should be considering a future in teaching or educational psychology and looking to build relevant experience in a supportive school environment.

This Northfield-based secondary school is rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted and is known for its inclusive ethos and strong SEN provision. The school offers excellent professional development and support for graduates considering a future in teaching. You’ll be joining a well-established team that values collaboration, professional growth, and high expectations for all students.

Due to the number of applications, only successful applicants will be contacted.
