The Role
As a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with a child who has autism and ADHD, providing dedicated 1:1 support. You will help them with classroom tasks, social interactions, and emotional regulation. Your role will also involve implementing strategies to support their learning, following guidance from the class teacher and SENCO.
 
The Candidate
This role is ideal for a psychology graduate looking to develop practical experience with SEN children before pursuing a career in education, psychology, or therapy. You should be patient, empathetic, and proactive, with a strong understanding of autism and ADHD. Prior experience working with children, either professionally or through voluntary roles, is beneficial but not essential.
 
The School
This ‘Good’ primary school in Smethwick has a dedicated SEN unit that provides specialist support for children with additional needs. The staff are experienced in delivering inclusive education and offer a welcoming and supportive environment. You will receive guidance from experienced teachers and SEN professionals to help you thrive in the role.
