SEN Learning Support Assistant – Specialist ASD Provision – Hackney

A specialist ASD provision in Hackeny is looking for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team. This role offers the opportunity to work in a structured and nurturing environment, providing tailored support to students with a range of learning and communication needs. Role Overview: 

• Position: SEN Learning Support Assistant 

• Location: Hackney

• Start Date: Immediate 

• Contract: Full-Time / Permanent 

• Salary: £103 - £115 per day (Dependent on experience) 

 
About You:  

• Has experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and associated learning needs. 

• Is confident in supporting students with communication challenges, sensory needs, and behaviour management. 

• Can build positive relationships with students, helping them feel secure and engaged in learning. 

• Works well as part of a multidisciplinary team, collaborating with teachers, therapists, and other support staff. 

• Has a proactive and adaptable approach to meeting the needs of students in a specialist setting. 

 
Your Responsibilities: 

• Support students in developing independence and life skills alongside academic learning. 

• Implement alternative communication methods such as PECS and Makaton to support non-verbal students. 

• Assist in sensory regulation activities to help students manage their emotions and behaviours. 

• Encourage social interaction and engagement through structured play and group activities. 

• Provide a safe, calm, and nurturing environment where students feel supported in their development.
