Teaching Assistant – Primary SEND – Birmingham
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a passionate Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive primary special school in Birmingham. This role is perfect for a Teaching Assistant who is committed to making a real difference for pupils with special educational needs, including Autism, communication difficulties, and complex learning needs.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils across the school. You will work closely with teachers, specialist staff, and other Teaching Assistants to deliver high-quality support that helps children achieve both academically and personally. This is an opportunity for a Teaching Assistant who thrives on building strong relationships and creating a positive, nurturing learning environment.

Responsibilities include:
  • Working as a Teaching Assistant to support pupils 1:1 and in small groups
  • Assisting teachers with planning and delivering creative, differentiated lessons
  • Supporting pupils with communication, emotional regulation, and social development
  • Helping to promote confidence and independence in all aspects of learning
  • Collaborating with the class teacher and other Teaching Assistants to ensure consistency of support
  • Contributing to the wider school community as a valued Teaching Assistant
The ideal candidate will have:
  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, ideally in a SEND or primary setting
  • A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential)
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team of Teaching Assistants
  • A patient, resilient, and nurturing approach when working with pupils with SEND
  • A genuine passion for supporting children as a Teaching Assistant
