Job Description
A thriving secondary school in Walsall is seeking a committed and proactive Pastoral Lead to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced pastoral professional to play a vital role in supporting the wellbeing, behaviour, and personal development of students across the school.
As a Pastoral Lead, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day pastoral care of a designated year group, working closely with senior leaders, teaching staff, parents, and external agencies to ensure that all students are safe, supported, and able to thrive both in and out of the classroom. You will provide targeted interventions, monitor attendance, manage behaviour concerns, and promote a positive and respectful school culture.
Responsibilities include:
- Leading the pastoral provision for a designated year group
- Building strong relationships with students to encourage positive behaviour and engagement
- Supporting students with social, emotional, and behavioural needs
- Liaising with staff, parents, and outside agencies to ensure effective support
- Monitoring and improving attendance, punctuality, and behaviour records
- Organising and delivering pastoral and personal development programmes
- Responding to safeguarding concerns in line with school policy
- Previous experience in a pastoral or behaviour support role in a secondary school setting
- Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills
- The ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations
- Knowledge of safeguarding, behaviour management, and attendance procedures
- A genuine commitment to supporting young people to achieve their best
