Job Title: SEND Auditor
Location: Camden, London (Hybrid – on-site as required)
Job Type: Full-time, Interim Contract (3-6 months)
Pay Rate: £320 - £350 per day (Umbrella, DOE)
About the Role:
Camden Council is seeking a highly experienced SEND Auditor to support the ongoing improvement and assurance of the local authority's SEND service. This role is key to ensuring the accuracy, legal compliance, and quality of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and associated processes.
You will work as part of a high-performing team to audit and quality assure EHCPs and SEND casework, providing feedback and coaching to drive best practice across the service.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Undertake detailed audits of EHCPs to assess quality, statutory compliance, and person-centred practice.
  • Identify trends, gaps, and systemic issues in EHCP writing, provision, and outcomes.
  • Provide constructive feedback and recommendations to case officers, SEN teams, and leadership.
  • Assist in developing and delivering improvement plans to raise the standard of EHCPs and SEND provision.
  • Monitor progress and ensure follow-through of improvement actions.
  • Support preparations for Ofsted/CQC SEND inspections, including evidence gathering and data analysis.
  • Work closely with QA leads, SEND managers, and multi-agency partners to embed a culture of continuous improvement.
Requirements:
  • Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice (2015), Children and Families Act (2014), and relevant education legislation.
  • Previous experience auditing EHCPs within a local authority or advisory capacity.
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Experience producing high-quality reports with clear recommendations.
  • Confidence in delivering feedback to staff at all levels and supporting practice improvement.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
Desirable:
  • Experience in preparing for or responding to a SEND area inspection.
  • Knowledge of Camden’s systems and local context.
