Job Description
The primary deliverable of the role is to deliver month end/year end processes alongside leading the budget, forecasting, reporting and other planning cycles to stakeholders across various business functions encompassing almost the entire company including interested third parties as required. The role is particularly challenging and demanding as it essentially requires the analyst to be a de facto subject matter expert for Energy, Finance, Energy Markets, Operations, Hedging, Strategy, Commercial, Internal Business Plans, Price Reviews and Ofwat regulations.

What you’ll be doing as a FP&A Analyst
- Develop and manage multiple data models such as month end, price, budget, forecast, strategy, hedging, planning, regulatory reporting models etc.
- Convert large data sets to meaningful, relevant, and actionable business information to identify control issues, determination of metrics and operational impacts
- Ensure that power contracts are understood to be able to convert these into relevant, meaningful financial information that can be used to drive decisions
- Emphasise maintenance of data integrity and articulation of messaging, producing evidence, simplification of complex analysis, clear insights and feasible actions
- Translate financial impacts in simple comprehensive formats, ensuring consistency of messaging across all stakeholders such as Operations, Business Improvement, Commercial, Strategic Business Planning, Energy and Carbon, Finance, Group, Central Finance, OLT, Audit, External analysts etc.
- Create user friendly fit for purpose tools and charts, providing clear evidence, rationale, insight, and line of sight and actionable inputs
- Objectively look at the data, filter out the noise and be able to extract key messages as well as draw out pivot information from formal and informal conversations
Working Pattern: 36 Hours
What you should bring to the role
- Advanced modelling skills
- Subject matter expertise/interest (energy markets and macroeconomic factors influencing these)
- Financial control and attention to detail
- Simplification - taking complicated information and translating this to key insight for decision making
- Able to understand impacts of contracts and interdependencies
- SAP/HFM Skills
- CIMA/ACCA qualified accountant
- Knowledge of the Water Industry and able to understand the clean/waste water treatment processes to highlight opportunities for efficiency.
- Keen understanding of energy market conditions - understanding of how hedges/swaps etc work
- Offering between £55,000 - £65,000 per annum, depending on experience
- Annual Leave - 26 days holiday per year increasing to 30 with the length of service (plus bank holidays)
