Job Description

Thames Water is seeking a Project Manager with strong technical knowledge of sewage treatment to lead the expansion and modernisation of Sewage Treatment Works.

As we enter the next 5-year AMP period, you'll manage project development, from early planning and design to contractor management during the build phase. Your focus will be improving health, safety, and environmental outcomes while ensuring excellent commercial performance and customer satisfaction.

What you’ll be doing as a Project Manager
  • Develop and deliver an optimised project to achieve all regulatory, statutory and internal outputs, deadlines and targets.
  • Accountability throughout the project lifecycle, governance compliance, and internal/external stakeholder engagement leading to the smooth transition of the project outcomes into the operational business
  • Refinement of project briefs, including supplementary information for the project's subsequent early contractor involvement phase.
  • Managing the project's ‘route to consent’ strategy, highlighting program and project risks relating to consents required, and considering any potential early works.
  • Managing and assuring the performance of contractors to deliver project outcomes to time, cost, and quality.
  • Robust financial forecasting of project costs across month, year and AMP intervals.
  • Manage risk issues and change fully transparently through effective reporting and escalation.
  • Contributing to steering project-wide continuous improvement and delivering against stretching targets.
  • Commercially managing all contract matters to achieve the optimal outcome for Thames Water.

Hybrid- Deephams Sewage Treatment Works, your role will require you to be on-site and in the office 2-3 days a week, as required by the role and the business's needs, so flexibility is required.

This role is 36 hours a week, Monday to Friday.

A driver's licence and access to a car for this role would be ideal.

What you should bring to the role of Project Manager
  • Have an excellent contractual awareness of Project Management work.
  • Have a proven track record of managing the performance of third-party organisations.
  • Be financially capable of running a Profit & Loss, taking account of revenue expenditure and cash flow to deliver agreed financial goals.
  • Set up and regularly implement feedback systems to improve business performance. Be able to deliver tough messages with empathy.
  • Develop excellent working relationships with internal and external stakeholders and have a positive approach to them.
  • Be able to demonstrate a strong external customer service ethic, measurement of customer satisfaction, and a proven track record of delivering improvements for internal and external customer experiences.
