Job Description
Thames Water is currently seeking an Investigator to inspect the business and domestic standpipes. This is an exciting opening for someone to police our clean water network ensuring our infrastructure remains safe and intact and water used is accounted for which directly impacts our leakage figures.
We require the successful candidate to demonstrate their ability to manage their own workload, be confident to gather evidence in the field face to face, be comfortable with lone working, proactively self-drive and generate their work and manage a reasonably high workload. They must be willing to travel the entire TW clean water network area, including central and outer London in the provided vehicle.

What you’ll be doing as a Legal Standpipe Investigator
- Targeting areas known for illegal standpipe use.
- Engaging with offenders to educate and ensure compliance.
- Gather evidence ensuring CPIA, PACE and Water Industry Act governance.
- Customer and stakeholder liaison.
- Reporting, good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate at all levels.
- Delivering educational presentations both internally and externally.
- Flexible approach to working hours when required and willingness to travel where necessary within the Thames Water region.
What should you bring to the role?
- Preferably background in enforcement.
- Evidence gathering and court file preparation experience is essential.
- An ability to self-manage workload and time management along with being self-motivated.
- Excellent reporting and management of workloads.
- Confident in delivering presentations to internal and external stakeholders.
- Water Industry knowledge would be an advantage but not essential.
- Good IT / MS Office.

- Salary between £36,000 to £38,500 per annum depending on experience and skills.
