Location: Hybrid / Flexible Working
Hours: 37 hours per week
Contract: Temporary (September 2025 - March 2026)
Day Rate: £190.11

Pertemps are currently looking for a proactive and knowledgeable Health, Safety & Wellbeing Advisor to support our client in driving a positive safety culture across the Council. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in shaping safe, healthy, and supportive working environments.
You'll provide expert advice, practical support, and strategic guidance across a wide range of health, safety, and wellbeing matters. From incident investigations to training delivery, your work will directly contribute to the wellbeing of employees and the organisation's compliance with legislation and best practice.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert advice, support, and training on health, safety, and wellbeing matters
- Support the development and delivery of the annual Health & Safety work plan
- Investigate incidents, identify root causes, and share lessons learned
- Deliver targeted interventions to reduce risk and improve safety outcomes
- Liaise with external bodies (e.g. HSE, Fire Authority)
- Monitor training compliance and escalate concerns where necessary
- Coach managers on risk assessments and health & safety responsibilities
- Develop and maintain digital learning content for the Health & Safety platform
- Contribute to annual reports and service improvement plans
- Facilitate workshops and promote a learning culture
- Identify commercial opportunities to enhance internal and external service offerings

Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- Degree-level qualification in Health & Safety or equivalent
- Graduate Member of IOSH
- Strong working knowledge of current health & safety legislation and standards
- Proven experience in accident investigation, auditing, and risk assessments
- Excellent communication, coaching, and report writing skills
- Strong IT skills, including Word, Excel, and Health & Safety systems
- Ability to work independently and flexibly across a complex organisation
- Experience in developing and delivering training and digital content
- Understanding of business continuity frameworks and stress risk assessments
Desirable:
- Chartered IOSH membership (or working towards it)
- Postgraduate qualification in safety or risk management
- Experience in local government or similarly complex environments
- Familiarity with safety improvement tools and methodologies
- Experience supporting wellbeing initiatives and stress case management
