Job Description

Handyman/Maintenance Operative

A reputable and well-established company is seeking a skilled Handyperson/Maintenance Operative to support the Maintenance Technician with general repairs and upkeep across their three sites in Enfield, Coventry, and Bradford. This is a fantastic temp-to-perm opportunity to join a committed team, ensuring the smooth operation of facilities.

 

Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Pay Rate: £13.75 per hour (Paid weekly or Monthly)
Locations: Enfield, Coventry, and Bradford (travel between sites may be required, company transport will be provided when needed)
Contract Type: Temp-to-Perm

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform general maintenance tasks across internal and external areas.
  • Carry out minor plumbing work (e.g., unblocking toilets, replacing washers, fixing taps).
  • Identify and repair leaks, reporting urgent issues as needed.
  • Assist with painting, decorating, and general carpentry (e.g., fixing doors and locks).
  • Unblock sinks and descale showerheads.
  • Move furniture and complete masticking work where required.
  • Support the maintenance department across multiple sites.
  • Complete job sheets and documentation accurately.
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations.
Skills & Attributes:
  • Proven experience in maintenance or handyman work, ideally in a commercial setting.
  • Trade experience in plumbing, carpentry, or electrical work is desirable.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach.
  • Team player with good customer service abilities.
  • Friendly, approachable, and professional attitude.
  • Physically capable of handling manual tasks (e.g., moving furniture and equipment).
  • Full UK driving licence required.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Participate in planned maintenance programmes and improvement projects.
  • Conduct regular security and safety checks on buildings and equipment.
  • Maintain lighting, heating, and water systems across all sites.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations (PAT testing awareness is a plus).
  • Keep outdoor areas clean, tidy, and hazard-free.
  • Assist with waste disposal and transportation of household waste.
  • Attend company premises for inspections and special functions.
  • Provide and maintain your own hand tools.
Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Relevant experience in maintenance and repairs.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations.
  • Strong communication skills with attention to detail.
