About the Role:
We are currently seeking an enthusiastic Maintenance Engineer (Mechanical) to join the team at Hoveringham. As part of the maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe maintenance, repair, and replacement of plant equipment and systems. Your work will help to ensure that all plant and equipment remains operational and serviced in line with planned preventative maintenance schedules.
This role involves working on a rotating 8-hour, three-tier shift pattern (days, afternoons, and nights) with opportunities for mid-week and weekend overtime. A standard working week is Monday to Friday.
What Duties Will I Have?
- Conduct mechanical repairs and diagnose faults on plant equipment and systems.
- Complete planned preventative maintenance (PPM) tasks to high standards, following manufacturers’ guidance where applicable.
- Understand systems and components, diagnose faults, and carry out repairs.
- Maintain a safe working environment, adhering to a "clean as you go" policy.
- Perform periodic inspections of plant and equipment in compliance with legislation.
- Report any mechanical defects to the appropriate manager immediately.
- Ensure compliance with all Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations.
- Maintain issued PPE in good condition and adhere to company safety standards.
- Assist in weekend manufacturing and maintenance works on a rotational basis, particularly during busy periods.
- Attend training in specialist areas as required, which may involve short stays away from home.
What Skills/Experience Do I Need?
Essential:
- Time-served qualification in a Mechanical Engineering discipline (e.g., apprenticeship, City and Guilds Level 3, NVQ Level 3, or equivalent).
- Welding (MIG and MMA), ideally BS 4872 or higher.
- Experience with hot works (Oxygen and Propane).
- Hydraulic and pneumatic system experience.
- Proficiency in abrasive wheels and working at height (harness trained).
- Competence with workshop machinery.
Desirable (Training Provided):
- IOSH Managing Safely certification.
- Manual handling training.
- FLT licenses (up to 5T counterbalance).
- IPAF 3A/3B certification.
- Operation of overhead gantry cranes.
- Confined space work (medium risk).
- Previous experience working in a heavy industry factory environment.
What is the Pay for This Role?
- £39,300 basic salary.
- Shift allowance enhancement:
- 75% of basic salary for days (06:00-14:00) and afternoons (14:00-22:00).
- 20% for night shifts (22:00-06:00).
- Overtime rates:
- 5 for midweek and Saturdays.
- x2 for Sundays and Bank Holidays.
