M&E Project Manager – Major Hospital Upgrade (Fire Protection Works)
Location: Birmingham
Contract Type: Permanent

RGB Recruitment are working in partnership with a leading Tier 1 main contractor who are seeking an experienced M&E Project Manager to support the delivery of a major hospital improvement programme in Birmingham. This high-profile scheme focuses on essential building upgrades and comprehensive fire-protection works within a live clinical setting.

The Role

You will take responsibility for the full coordination, management and delivery of all M&E packages, with a strong mechanical bias. The role includes overseeing sprinkler system works, HVAC upgrades, fire-protection installations, and ensuring seamless technical delivery. You will also play a key role in client interface and commercial management, acting as a trusted representative throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the M&E delivery of building improvement and fire-protection upgrade packages
  • Oversee mechanical and electrical installation, testing, commissioning and integration
  • Act as the primary client-facing interface, building strong stakeholder relationships
  • Manage M&E subcontractors, ensuring progress, quality and compliance
  • Support commercial activities including variations, forecasting and subcontract management
  • Coordinate sprinkler systems, HVAC upgrades and associated mechanical installation works
  • Ensure full compliance with fire-safety regulations, HTM standards and Tier 1 protocols
  • Deliver works safely and efficiently within a live hospital environment
Requirements
  • Strong background in M&E project management on major building or healthcare projects
  • Mechanical bias with proven experience working on sprinkler systems and HVAC
  • Experience delivering active and passive fire-protection upgrades
  • Previous experience within Tier 1 construction environments or large complex projects
  • Strong commercial awareness and demonstrable cost-management skills
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence in client-facing scenarios
  • Ability to manage works in live, sensitive environments such as hospitals
