About the Role

As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the design and specification of electrical systems, ensuring they meet the highest standards of performance, efficiency, and environmental responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Specification: Develop detailed electrical designs for power distribution, lighting, data, communications, fire alarms, security systems, and lightning protection.
Collaboration: Work closely with mechanical engineers and other disciplines to deliver integrated building services solutions.
Sustainability Focus: Contribute to the design of low-energy buildings, including those aiming for Passivhaus and BREEAM certification.
Technical Analysis: Utilize tools such as lighting 3D modelling, thermal, energy, ventilation, and daylighting simulations to inform design decisions.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure designs comply with UK building regulations and industry standards.
Client Engagement: Participate in client meetings, providing technical expertise and ensuring client requirements are met.
Mentorship: Support and guide junior engineers, fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment.

Skills & Experience

Degree in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering (BEng, MEng or equivalent).
2–5 years' experience in electrical building services design consultancy.
Proficiency in design software including AutoCAD and Revit.
Strong understanding of UK regulations and standards (e.g., BS 7671, CIBSE).
Experience with energy performance calculations and sustainability assessments.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Full UK driving licence preferred.
