Are you a Mechanical Building Services Design Engineer ready for your next step? Whether you're building on your experience or already working at a senior or associate level, this is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established, people-focused consultancy just outside Southampton.

You’ll be part of a dynamic, supportive team delivering innovative mechanical design solutions across healthcare, education, and commercial sectors—on projects ranging from small-scale refurbishments to complex, multi-million-pound developments.

What You’ll Be Doing

In this role, you’ll lead or support the delivery of mechanical building services designs from early-stage feasibility through to detailed design and tender submissions. You’ll engage directly with clients, collaborate with project teams, and bring a strong technical presence to every stage of the project lifecycle.

Your day-to-day will include:
  • Developing detailed mechanical designs and complete tender packages
  • Producing technical specifications, cost reports, and project documentation
  • Coordinating with design teams, clients, contractors, and stakeholders
  • Overseeing project delivery across all RIBA stages
  • Preparing load analysis, zoning strategies, and Builders Work requirements
  • Inputting to fee proposals and managing project programmes
  • Mentoring junior engineers and helping to shape the next generation of talent
  • Ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices

What We’re Looking For

We're looking for an engineer who is both technically strong and a great team player. Ideally, you’ll bring:
  • A background in Mechanical Building Services Design (HND/Degree qualified)
  • Experience across healthcare, education, and/or commercial sectors
  • Proficiency with design software and strong understanding of industry standards
  • Membership with CIBSE or working toward it (preferred)
  • Great communication and client engagement skills
  • A proactive, self-starting approach to work

The Culture & Perks

This consultancy places genuine emphasis on work-life balance, personal growth, and team cohesion. You’ll find a supportive environment where your development is taken seriously and your work makes a real impact.

Benefits include:
  • 28 days annual leave (including bank holidays), plus 3–4 additional paid days over Christmas
  • Hybrid working and flexible hours to suit your lifestyle
  • Training & Development pathways designed around you
  • Aspiring Managers Programme to support leadership goals
  • Health & Wellbeing initiatives to support your physical and mental health
  • Regular social events and team-building activities
  • Enrichment programme for professional and personal growth
  • Branded workwear provided
  • On-site parking
  • Cycle scheme
  • Complimentary theatre tickets and cultural outings
