Job Opportunity: Technologist - Motorcycle PPE
Location: Kettering
Salary: Up to £29,000 per annum
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Closing Date: 17th September 2025
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Technologist to join a well-established Safety Product Testing team working in the field of Motorcycle Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
About the Role
As a Technologist, you will primarily focus on the testing of motorcycle protective garments - including jackets, trousers, race suits, gloves, and impact protectors - to ensure they meet international safety standards. Over time, there will be opportunities to expand into testing other types of PPE such as helmets, gloves, high-visibility clothing, and more.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct physical testing in accordance with European and International standards
Operate a range of test equipment to generate accurate, repeatable results
Prepare detailed reports based on testing outcomes
Liaise with customers via email, phone, and face-to-face to provide guidance on testing requirements
Handle technical enquiries and advise on certification routes (e.g., CE or UKCA)
Maintain records and input job data using business systems (e.g., Dynamics)
Support ongoing improvements to lab facilities and testing procedures
Represent the team at events such as webinars, trade shows, and customer visits
Full training will be provided where required.
About You
Essential Skills & Attributes:
Strong attention to detail
Self-motivated and able to work independently
Logical, methodical, and organized
Strong communication and time management skills
Comfortable using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
Previous experience in a customer-facing role
Desirable:
Laboratory or standards-based testing experience
Understanding of garment/clothing manufacturing
Experience using database systems (e.g., Dynamics)
Familiarity with quality management systems (QMS)
Additional languages or experience with international clients
Willingness to travel occasionally
