About the Role We are seeking an experienced Pipework Design Engineer / Detailer to join our Technical Department. The role involves producing high-quality fabrication and general arrangement drawings, supporting production and manufacturing activities, and working closely with clients and internal stakeholders to deliver safe, compliant, and efficient pipework solutions.
You will work in accordance with our Freeflow Quality Management System, contributing to continuous improvement and ensuring all designs meet relevant standards and client specifications.
Key Responsibilities
  • Produce SolidWorks and AutoCAD fabrication drawings and general arrangement drawings for client approval
  • Compile production and manufacturing instructions, including Bills of Materials (BOMs)
  • Detail pipework systems in response to client requests
  • Work in line with Technical Department processes and procedures within the Quality Management System
  • Collaborate with internal teams including the Technical Director, Purchasing Manager, and Production Controller to support pipework detailing and delivery scheduling
  • Make informed decisions on the best detailing practices to meet client and production requirements
  • Liaise directly with clients to understand their goals and provide technical solutions
  • Check and review product detailing to ensure quality, performance, and compliance with standards and client specifications
  • Ensure all client-submitted designs are safe and comply with relevant legislation and industry regulations
Skills & Experience Required
  • Proven experience in pipework design and detailing
  • Strong working knowledge of SolidWorks and AutoCAD
  • Experience producing fabrication drawings and manufacturing documentation
  • Understanding of pipework standards, tolerances, and fabrication methods
  • Ability to interpret client specifications and technical requirements
  • Strong communication skills for liaising with clients and internal teams
  • Methodical approach with attention to detail and quality
Desirable
  • Experience working within a quality-managed engineering environment
  • Knowledge of relevant industry codes and legislation
  • Background in manufacturing, fabrication, or industrial pipework systems
