I am recruiting on behalf of a thriving business in Cannock that’s searching for a confident, hands-on Assistant Accountant to join their family.
 
This is a varied, hands-on role where you’ll be a key player in the day-to-day running of the finance department, with exposure to reporting, compliance, payroll and more. Perfect for someone who enjoys taking ownership and adding value.
 
What you’ll be doing:
 

• Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
• Compile financial reports and present findings to senior management
• Review and monitor company financial performance, highlighting areas for cost reduction
• Prepare statutory accounts and support external audits
• Process payroll and manage related HMRC compliance
• Handle accruals, prepayments, and general ledger entries
• Conduct financial analysis to identify trends and inform strategy
• Assist with accounts payable/receivable and maintaining ledgers
• Monitor compliance with financial regulations and standards

 
What we’re looking for:
 

• 5+ years’ experience in a finance/accounting role
• Experience processing payroll and managing related tax filings
• AAT qualified or working towards ACCA/CIMA
• Advanced Excel skills and confident using Sage or similar accounting software
